Vinyl Transfer

Vinyl transfer is available as a specialist service for clients who need faithful digital preservation of important records. The process is controlled, archival-minded, and designed to carry the weight, texture, and intent of the original pressing into a modern digital format without compromising source integrity.

Vinyl transfer focus areas

  • Precision capture from vinyl with attention to tone, depth, and transient character
  • Careful handling and preparation of source material before transfer
  • Clean digital file preparation for archive, reference, or production use
  • Delivery designed to support preservation first, with practical usability in mind

When to request vinyl transfer

Choose vinyl transfer when the priority is preserving an original record in a reliable digital form for archive, listening, or future project development.

If the source also needs deeper corrective work beyond capture and preparation, restoration can be added where required.

Please note:

Vinyl projects can be sent by tracked post or arranged by local drop-off. Records are logged on arrival, handled with care, and returned securely once work is complete. Tracked and well-protected shipping is strongly recommended for all original media.

If a record has known wear, damage, warping, or playback issues, mention that in advance so handling, transfer expectations, and any possible restoration needs can be planned properly.

Handling and liability

All vinyl is handled with reasonable care throughout transfer, restoration, storage, and return. As original records can be fragile, aged, or irreplaceable, clients are strongly encouraged to use secure, protective, tracked, and where appropriate insured shipping when sending items for service.

  • Responsibility for items in transit remains with the sender until safe delivery is confirmed, and with the carrier once return shipment has been dispatched.
  • Pre-existing wear, warping, groove damage, sleeve damage, and age-related fragility remain the client's responsibility.
  • Restoration work is undertaken carefully, but complete removal of clicks, crackle, hiss, or distortion cannot be guaranteed.
  • Liability for any claim connected to the service is limited to the amount paid for that service, except where liability cannot legally be excluded.
Vinyl restoration is quoted separately as an additional fee when corrective work is needed beyond standard transfer and preparation.

Vinyl Restoration

Vinyl restoration is available as an additional corrective service for transferred records that need more than straightforward preservation.

The process is methodical, restrained, and intended to improve listenability while respecting the original tone, musical balance, and historical character of the source.

Vinyl restoration focus areas

  • Removal or reduction of clicks, crackle, hiss, and other surface artefacts
  • Corrective tonal and noise treatment applied with source sensitivity
  • Improvement of clarity and continuity without over-processing
  • Delivery of restored files suited to archive, reference, or dedicated listening copies

When to request vinyl restoration

Choose restoration support when wear, contamination, or age-related defects are getting in the way of a useful or enjoyable transfer.

If the record is already clean and stable, standard vinyl transfer is normally the right starting point.
